Have No Fear, No More Test Scores Needed Here…

no more sat and act scores for this schoolCan success be predicated without the dreaded standardized test score? Should tests like the SAT and ACT really determine the fate of students?

According to George Washington University, these standardized tests don’t deserve all the attention they get.

GW just became one of the most prestigious schools to make the change to test-optional admissions. Their goal is to encourage more students to apply and not be held back by scores that do not match their performance in school.

Though it is highly debated, George Washington University and several other schools feel as though they are capable of creating strong undergraduate classes without the consideration of standardized tests.

“Although we have long employed a holistic application review process, we had concerns that students who could be successful at GW felt discouraged from applying if their scores were not as strong as their high school performance,” said Dean of Admissions Karen Stroud Felton.

George Washington University accepted 45 percent of its applicants for the incoming freshman class, which is the highest rate of admission in over ten years.
