Career Training in the
medical and dental fields. The
dental assistant program at Acadiana is a nine-week intensive course including one week of clinicals to train highly skilled dental assistants. The program is completed in 200 hours and includes the following topics: dental charting, dental oral anatomy, dental terminology, dental X-Rays, operatorating procedures, instrument identification, impressions, temporaries as well as resume and interview preparation. The 10-week phlebotomy course at Acadiana trains students to perform blood tests and includes one week of clinicals. The EKG technician course lasts three weeks and trains students to perform and read electrocardiogram tests. Two
medical assistant courses are also offered for medical office assistants that covers everything from computer literacy to vital signs and a three week course in insurance coding.
