American Academy of Art is a private arts school located in downtown Chicago. Founded in 1923, the American Academy of Art provides professional artists with tools and techniques they need to build a successful career. Accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology, the academic program at Illinois art school combines a foundation in drawing and design with a core curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills.
American Academy of Art offers seven areas of study leading to a Bachelor of
fine arts degree: illustration, design, web design, 3-D
modeling and animation, oil painting, watercolor painting, and life drawing. All students complete a core curriculum of
humanities and sciences courses along with hands-on learning in the studio. Students have access to shared housing in various apartment complexes within 10 miles of the American Academy of Art campus.
