Barton County Community College
245 NE 30 Road
Great Bend, KS 67530
When
Barton County
community college was formed in 1965, it's mission was to provide students in the county an opportunity to obtain an education at a low cost and within commuting distance. Today, that
AIM remains the same: to deliver education opportunities that improve the lives of students and the needs of the surrounding community.
On its 160-acre campus, Barton County
Community College offers degree and certificate programs in such areas as agricultural economics, hazardous materials management and phlebotomy training. The Kansas college is often recognized for its quality faculty, programs and services, which include financial aid assistance, tutoring and career placement.
Included in those services, is the Camp Aldrich Conference Center, which has five shade shelters, like those found in recreational parks. It's the perfect place for students to relax while studying, as it houses approximately 70 species of wild flowers and grasses and 57 different species of birds have been identified, even some that are on the endangered species list. The administration building, dining hall, a parking lot and five lodges that can be used for seminars and classrooms are located there, as well as a pool and bathhouse.
