Berkshire community college currently offers 34 associate degree and 13 certificate programs in addition to a wide range of noncredit courses and workshops. The Massachusetts college's mission is for all residents of Berkshire County to have access to academic excellence, student success and leadership in the community.

Berkshire Community College got off to a shaky start in 1960. The college was set to open its doors when Hurricane Donna touched down and closed the school for three days. The Massachusetts college even scored a two-page spread in LIFE magazine at the time.

Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Berkshire Community College offers two-year programs in more than 40 credit programs as well as career training programs and enrichment courses. Credit programs include business administration, fine arts, health science and animal care.

The Massachusetts college offers a joint admissions program between itself, the University of Massachusetts and other state colleges in the state, making it easy to transition to these public, four-year institutions. Upon graduation from Berkshire Community College with a minimum GPA of 2.5, students are guaranteed admission to an institution that they selected when enrolling at Berkshire Community College. In addition, students with a GPA of 3 or better also are eligible for a 33 percent in-state tuition waiver when they transfer.
