Bethune-Cookman College is a private thriving
liberal arts College in Florida that was founded in 1904 with the intention of promoting social equality. A historically black institution, Bethune-Cookman College offers its more than 3,000 students with an abundance of academic and social opportunities while maintaining a strong foundation in the values and beliefs of the United Methodist Church. With a strong emphasis on ethnic diversity and multicultural education, Bethune-Cookman College's student body is comprised of students from over 35 countries, and a multitude of cultures, traditions, and talents.
The 70-acre institution is located in Daytona Beach, Florida, providing an environment rich in history and culture. Many of the buildings that comprise the campus are historical, and the school maintains close relations to the community of Midway, a local historic African-American community.
Bethune-Cookman offers over 35 academic degrees from its six schools, and students can study a wide variety of subjects including
business, education, arts and humanities,
nursing, social sciences, science,
engineering, and mathematics. The school also offers non-degree programs for working professionals through its general studies program. Bethune-Cookman also offers a variety of graduate and professional studies both in the classroom and
online.
In addition to offering a wide variety of academic study and degrees, Bethune-Cookman College offers a lively social community as well. Students can participate in Greek life, musical and choral groups and choirs, many of which have received national recognition, and a range of athletics from basketball, baseball, cross country, and golf, to tennis, track and field.
