The only vocational trade school for massage in east Hawaii, the Big Island
Academy of Massage provides aspiring massage therapists with the classes and workshops they need to get into the career.
Rather than just offering one type of
massage therapy program, the Big Island Academy of Massage gives students the opportunity to choose what kind of massage techniques and practices they want to learn. Courses are available in massage therapies like sports massage, acupressure, and lomi lomi -- a Hawaiian massage technique.
The Big Island Academy of Massage's introductory and intermediate programs require 570 hours of study and culminate in an internship that lasts from six months to a year. The completion of an internship is a requirement for gaining licensure in the state of Hawaii.

Students of the Big Island Academy of Massage don't have to worry about their schooling going to waste. That's because this massage school's course requirements qualify students to take the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork's (NCBTMB) exam.
