Rather than just offering one type of massage therapy program, the Big Island Academy of Massage gives students the opportunity to choose what kind of massage techniques and practices they want to learn. Courses are available in massage therapies like sports massage, acupressure, and lomi lomi -- a Hawaiian massage technique.

The Big Island Academy of Massage's introductory and intermediate programs require 570 hours of study and culminate in an internship that lasts from six months to a year. The completion of an internship is a requirement for gaining licensure in the state of Hawaii.
