Center for Technology, Essex is an award winning development center in Essex Junction, Vermont that prepares youth and adults for their current and future careers. The center has comprehensive technical programs, including career exploration, preparation, and technical literacy that are offered in an academically enriching environment. Center for Technology offers one- and two-year programs that train students for their careers and post-secondary education.

Center for Technology, Essex's educational programs include applied science and technology, professional and personal services, and informational technology. These programs are for students 16 years of age or older and adults in Chittenden County and the surrounding counties. The applied science and technology areas of study are automotive technology, building technology, engineering and architectural design, natural resources and agriscience technology, and pre-tech. Those interested in professional and personal services can study dental assisting, child care and human services, Cosmetology, professional foods, and ophthalmic medical assisting. The information technology's areas of study include business, computer animation and web page design, computer systems technology, health information management, and graphic design/digital publishing.

  • The Vermont school offers adult services that assist adult students with educational and training opportunities to meet their individual goals. Adults without high school diplomas can enroll in daytime classes free of charge. Adults with high school diplomas can attend daytime programs, if space is available, and receive a reduced tuition rate. Adult students can also take courses at SkillTech, the workforce and training division of the Center for Technology, Essex.


  • Center for Technology, Essex has been involved in a German teacher/student exchange program that, due to world events, has been put on hold.


  • The Center for Technology has partnerships with National Center for Telecommunications, Vermont Technical College, Champlain College, and Community College of Vermont.


  • Each year students from Center for Technology, Essex compete in Skills USA against other technical students in statewide and national events.


  • Center for Technology, Essex's outstanding students are recognized and honored for their academic achievements as members of the National Technical Honor Society. In addition to academic achievement, membership is also earned through their citizenship and community service.
