Founded in 1955, Cerritos College is a public comprehensive California Community College serving an area of 52 square miles of southeastern Los Angeles county. The California community college offers degrees and certificates in 87 areas of study in nine divisions. Over 1,200 students successfully complete their course of studies each year.
The Cerritos College student body is a majority of minorities: Hispanics, Asians, African-Americans, Pacific Islanders and Native Americans together account for more than 60 percent of our students. Cerritos College attracts students directly from high school, but also attracts the returning student who may have been out of school for many years. The Los Angeles college serves first generation college students as well as college students with a college family tradition. The California Community College's mission is teaching and our faculty has established a distinguished record of scholarship, research and publication.
