The College of Southern Maryland is a public, two-year institution that provides degree and diploma programs of study to students. Maintaining high-quality educational options at an affordable price, the school is one of the best educational values for area students. On campus, students will find a wide array of
liberal arts and technical-oriented programs in fields ranging from fine arts to
automotive technology. The College of Southern Maryland offers over 100 programs of study with classes offered in the day or evening. The school also provides 15 degree and
certificate programs that can be completed entirely
online, giving students the opportunity to take their studies wherever they go. Students looking to transfer will have a wide array of four-year institutions at their fingertips after leaving the College of Southern Maryland. The school currently maintains articulation agreements with nine four-year institutions including the University of Baltimore, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and
Bowie State University. The school also operates a robust international travel program. College of Southern Maryland students can earn credits through travel-study programs in Belize, England, Spain, France, Italy, Puerto Rico, India, Ireland, Greece, Russia, China, or Mongolia.
The College of Southern Maryland also operates an extensive continuing education program with more than 11,000 students enrolled in non-credited courses each year. Continuing education courses include everything from personal enrichment classes to basic skills courses to kids and teen workshops. After classes are over, the College of Southern Maryland is a hub of social and cultural activities as well. The school supports five intercollegiate women's sports teams as well as five men's teams and competes through the National
junior college Athletic Association, Division III. An array of student clubs and organizations can also be found on campus as well as several ongoing volunteer projects all students are invited to join. College of Southern Maryland students are also welcome to use the on campus Fitness, Wellness, and Sports center.
