A private four-year institution of higher learning,
Columbia College's history dates back to 1851 when it was founded as Christian Female College. Nearly a century later it would change its name to Columbia College while simultaneously opening its doors to males and emerging as a school of the
liberal arts and sciences.
Unlike some other colleges, Columbia College could be considered three colleges in one. In addition 33 extended campuses, this Missouri also boasts the Day Campus, Evening Campus, and even the
online Campus. While the Day Campus conducts classes like traditional colleges, the Evening Campus offers eight-week classes that either meet two nights a week or once on Saturday. The
online Campus, meanwhile, allows students are in the military -- or who simply have busy schedules -- to learn from the comfort of their own homes, at their own pace.

Columbia College's extended campuses are located within Missouri, throughout the nation, and on military bases in places like Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
