The Concepts School of
Cosmetology is an Illinois-based
cosmetology school. The Concepts School of
cosmetology has two locations: Danville and Urbana. The Concepts School of
cosmetology was established 60 years ago as the Danville Beauty School. In 1975, the Urbana campus was founded as the Beau Monde School of Beauty. The two was combined as the Concept College of
cosmetology in 1991 and later became known as the Concepts School of Cosmetology.
The 1500-hour course at the Concepts School of Cosmetology can be completed in as little as 50 weeks attending courses full-time. During the class portion of the course, students attending the Concepts School of Cosmetology will learn through lectures and demonstrations in: shampooing and conditioners; blow-dry styling; hair designing; hair-sculpting: ladies and men; thermal iron designs; long hair graphics; hair coloring and lightening; facials; facial makeup; chemical reformation; manicuring/pedicuring; permanent waving; salon management; salesmanship and people skills. In the practical labs, students have the opportunity to practice what they've learned during the lectures and demonstrations. The program at the Concepts School of Cosmetology prepares students for state licensure and upon completion of the program, graduates can take the state licensure exam.
Both of the Concepts School of Cosmetology's campuses provide students with a large clinic area and modern salon equipment. Adequate parking is provided at both schools. Students have the choice, however, of attending classes in a rural location in Danville, where the setting is peaceful and quiet. Or, students may attend classes in an urban setting, in a two-story building located close to downtown Urbana.
Prospective students wishing to apply to the Concepts School of Cosmetology must provide a copy of their birth certificate; a copy of their
high school diploma or proof of completion for a GED; one recent photo and any proof of a name change, if the name does not appear on the birth certificate.
The Concepts School of Cosmetology also offers continuing education for licensed professionals as well as cosmetology school instructor training.
