Cosmetology and Spa Institute was founded by internationally trained Ned Halimi, a stylist, salon owner and
cosmetology school manager, in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The
cosmetology and Spa Institute gives students the skills to compete in the competitive
cosmetology and spa market.
The
cosmetology and Spa Institute offers programs in cosmetology, esthetics, and becoming an instructor. In the cosmetology program, students take 1,500 hours of theory and practical training, with 100 percent hands-on experience. The program prepares students to pass the Illinois State Board Exam. The esthetics program requires 750 hours of theory and practical training, with a focus on the medical aspects of esthetics, and it prepares students for work in salons and day spas. The instructor program is a 500-hour training program for students with at least two years of cosmetology work experience, and requires 1,000 hours of training for students with less than two years of work experience. The program teaches students to become professional cosmetology instructors.

The Cosmetology and Spa Institute is currently offering a $5,000 Life Start Scholarship towards new enrollments in cosmetology during May and June.
The cosmetology program includes shampooing, hair and scalp treatments, permanent waxing, chemical hair relaxing, hair coloring, hair cutting and styling, manicures and pedicures, facials, chemistry, salon business management, and hair extensions. The esthetics program consists of microdermabrasion, advanced therapy, body treatments, facials, hair removal, aromatherapy, color psychology, makeup, chemistry, electricity and machines, consultation and analysis, salon management, nutrition, anatomy and psychology, and sanitation and safety. The instructor program consists of learning theory, lesson planning, teaching methods, visual aids, classroom management, evaluation techniques, and state laws.
