The Covenant School of Radiology prepares students for licensure as a registered radiology technologist. Covenant's program provides training through classroom, lab, and clinical environments.
Covenant School of Radiology's program requires 22 months of study at the Covenant
Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. In addition to studying at the sponsoring hospital, the program includes academic and clinical study with five of the program's affiliates, which include Lubbock Radiology Association, HealthPlus,
medical Office Building, Lubbock Diagnostic Clinic, and Covenant Hospital Levelland.

Once students have received a high school or GED certificate, the program requires the completion of five college level courses from an accredited college or university. The prerequisite courses are human anatomy and physiology, college algebra, medical terminology, and English. The courses must be completed before the starting date at Covenant School of Radiology, with a grade of C or better. A grade point average of 2.5 is recommended.
Covenant School of Radiology's first year courses include fundamentals of radiological science and health care, ethics and law in radiologic science, medical terminology, principles of radiographic exposure and evaluation, radiologic physics, human structure and function, radiographic procedures, radiation protection, patient care in radiologic sciences, and more than a dozen other courses during the first year. During the second year, courses include medical terminology, principles of radiographic exposure and evaluation, radiologic physics, human structure and function, radiologic procedures, radiologic pathology, image analysis, and more than 20 other courses.
Covenant School of Radiology classes are scheduled Monday through Friday and attendance is mandatory. Students attend a two-week orientation, where they will be assigned clinical departments.
Admission to Covenant School of Radiology is determined by an admissions committee. The committee bases admissions on a student's GPA from high school and/or college, prerequisites, interview, the amount of medical sciences classes completed, previous direct patient care experience, motivation, and character.
Tuition and students fees are a total of $6,600 for the 22-month program, including books.
Financial assistance is available through federal grants, loans, limited healthcare services, and potential part-time employment.
During the 22-month program at the Covenant School of Radiology, students study and rotate through a variety of modalities, which include diagnostic/trauma/fluoro, magnetic Resonance imaging, computerized axial tomography, ultrasound, surgery/endoscopy, cath lab/angiography, interventional, nuclear medicine, electron beam tomography, position emission tomography, and portable radiography.
