Academy of Austin, founded in 1998, offers a comprehensive
Culinary Arts education. The Culinary Academy offers short intensive programs and traditional one- and two-year programs in a commercial kitchen setting. The two founders of the Culinary Academy of Austin have more than 30 years of experience in the food service and pastry
business.
Culinary Academy of Austin's offers a professional
culinary arts diploma and a pastry arts diploma. The professional
culinary arts curriculum includes five major blocks, each block spanning three months. Students begin to prepare multi-course menus from day one and gain additional experience through a 400-hour externship, completed while attending or shortly after graduating.
The pastry arts diploma program requires 498 hours of study, in six months, of baker/pastry training. The program provides a solid foundation in pastry arts, which prepares students for entry to mid-level positions as pastry assistants. Pastry arts students also participate in a required 120-hour externship. It's an ideal program for non-professionals who want to enhance their pastry skills.

Courses are also available for students who have an interest in cooking for fun. These courses include knife skills, fresh pasta and simple sauces, Spanish cooking, fresh fish cooking, learn to cook, stocks and sauces, finger foods, great salads, cooking principals, and seafood Saturday.
Students who get their diplomas from Culinary Academy of Austin have the knowledge and skills to become executive chefs or pastry chefs at restaurants and a wide variety of other professioal kitchen settings.
