The College of Staten Island is a senior college within The City University of New York (CUNY). CSI is unique in the CUNY system by not only awarding associate's degrees in nine areas of study, but by continuing the expansion of its bachelor's and master's degree offerings, which currently stand at 35 and 15, respectively. CSI also participates in several challenging doctoral programs in cooperation with the CUNY Graduate School and University Center. As a part of CUNY and situated in one of the world's most distinguished cities, CSI provides students the opportunity to establish professional and academic contacts, as well as to study in a vibrant international capital of finance, entertainment, communications, and the arts.

Located on a 204-acre, park-like campus, CSI features state of the art facilities. The Library houses 212,554 volumes, 877,357 microfilms, 14,500 audiovisual materials, and 1,664 other resources. It also provides access to more than 10,000 journal titles available in Full Text. Computer facilities include a fiber-optic network and wireless Internet access. CSI is in NCAA Division III. The College has 10 teams: Basketball, softball, swimming, tennis, and volleyball for women; and baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming, and tennis for men. CSI Athletics won the first-ever CUNY Athletic Conference Commissioner's Cup in 2000-2001. CSI offers year-round programs in China, Ecuador, Greece, and Italy. Overseas programs in more than 20 countries are open to CSI students through membership in the College Consortium for International Studies. CSI students have opportunities for jobs with the Discovery Institute, tutoring in high schools and at the college, and working with high school teachers. The College offers paid internships in laboratories on campus and with local institutions such as newspapers and museums.
