Established in the spring of 2003, the School of Professional Studies at the University Center is the newest institution within The City University of New York (CUNY). The School of Professional Studies provides a comprehensive and flexible approach to higher education in order to meet the needs of its students quickly and effectively.

The School of Professional Studies (SPS) develops and offers educational opportunities to all learners at all stages in their careers. Learning is both a career-long and lifelong process. SPS offers courses and academic programs that enable students to gain new skills that will help them to advance in their careers. Additionally, the School of Professional Studies provides specialized training for employers looking to keep their edge in today's competitive marketplace. SPS is proud to offer current CUNY students access to specialized and unique academic programs. All SPS programs are developed and taught by experts who combine their real world experience with their deep, research-based knowledge of the field.

Students of the School of Professional Studies can enroll in classes for college credit, which can be used toward degrees, certificates and professional accreditations in a range of fields. From education to law to science to arts and culture, SPS has the courses and programs that help individuals succeed in both their personal and professional lives. The School of Professional Studies is constantly developing new courses and academic programs to serve emerging marketplace demands and meet the diverse needs of its student population.
