In 1985, the DCI Career Institute was established as a computer sales, service and
training organization. During its first year, the institute offered computer classes to the public. A year later, full-time computer training programs were developed and submitted for state licensure. Since then, the organization has become incorporated and accredited by the National Accrediting Agency (ACCET). Now, the school offers more than computers as an area of study.
DCI Career Institute offers four full-time career programs in
massage therapy,
business information, medical assistant, and computer networking. The
massage therapy program develops student's skills for a career as a clinical massage therapist. The curriculum consists of anatomy and bodywork, massage techniques, complementary therapies, clinical practice and
business professionalism and ethics.
The business information specialist program provides students with a skill base for a number of business industries. This program has a business office administration track and an
Allied Health office administration track. In the business office administration track, students learn to create business presentations, web design, and use advanced features of database management. The allied health office administration track teaches medical billing and coding, medical transcription, medical terminology, and medical laboratory procedures.
Students in the medical assistant program become specialized in clinical procedures including CPR/First Aid, venipuncture, injection, measuring and recording vital signs as well as other numerous medical procedures. In eight months, medical assistant students will become CPR certified and nationally certified medical assistants.
In the computer network specialist program, students gain the necessary skills needed for a career in the IT business environment. The program provides extensive hands-on learning and students learn to troubleshoot, build and repair personal computers and network servers.
