Delaware College of Art and Design was created through a partnership of Pratt Institute and Corcoran College of Art and Design, two of America's oldest and most renowned visual arts colleges. The college embodies the traditions, excellence and Expertise of its founding institutions, which have been world leaders in art and design education for more than 100 years. Graduates of the Delaware College of Art and Design are prepared to enter the art and design industry or can continue their education at Pratt Institute or Corcoran in Washington, D.C.

Delaware College of Art and Design confers Associate Degrees in six areas of study: animation, fine arts, Graphic Design, illustration, photography, and interior design. Students are instructed through a curriculum of written and verbal expression, critical thinking, history and theories of art and design and the humanities. Enrollment in one of the associate degree programs prepare students for entry level careers or middle management in art and design as well as provide the basis for continuing their education. The curriculum is 68 credits with 44 credits in studio courses and 24 credits in academic courses. The first year consists of foundation courses including a foundation seminar and in the second year students take courses specific to their major.

The college also has continuing education courses conferring certificates in graphic design, web design, and interior design. These programs give working professionals the opportunity to complete a course of study in as little as three months. These programs have flexible, evening and weekend class schedules.

The painting, drawing, and design studios are bathed in natural light. The first floor exhibition gallery showcases student work and is open to the public.
