business Institute-Downriver offers day and evening programs in medical assistant, legal administrative assistant, administrative assistant, medical office, and computer office specialist. The medical assistant program prepares students for careers in the
health care field. Students learn to perform clinical and administrative tasks in doctors' offices, hospitals, clinics,
nursing homes, and home
health care agencies. The legal administrative assistant program trains students to have accuracy in machine transcription, keyboarding, and English grammar. The administrative assistant program gives students the skills needed for office support positions and entry-level positions in management. Students in the medical office program will perform clinical duties in a medical center, hospital or physician's office. The skills acquired are medical terminology, billing, transcription, English grammar, and computer operations. The computer office specialist program provides students with a variety of computer skills needed in business as well as accounting, keyboarding, and other relevant electives.
