The Digital Worlds Institute at the University of Florida offers interdisciplinary research seminars to both undergraduates and graduate students. These seminars combine lectures and
online classes that use Second Life, a real-time virtual environment. Students enrolled in these seminars work with University of Florida researchers and researchers from other universities across the world to design new research projects. The University of Florida organization offers research seminars to all students.

The Digital Worlds Institute at the University of Florida offers its interdisciplinary research seminars in the Digital Worlds Institute's Research, education and Visualization Environment (REVE). This is a 52-foot wide visualization space that lets students interact in the virtual and real worlds at the same time.
One of the objectives of the interdisciplinary research seminars is for the students to share their recommendations on how universities can make use of the virtual world environments to advance education in the future.
The Digital Worlds Institute at the University of Florida offers the services in its digital media lab to both on- and off-campus individuals. The lab offers services in video design, video production, visualization, digital audio and computer animation.
In 2007, the Digital Worlds Institute at the University of Florida worked with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and technology at the first International Symposium on Culture Technology.
