Dominican College was originally founded by the Dominican Sisters of Baluvelt in 1952, today the school stands as a four-year institution of higher learning with more than 30 undergraduate and graduate programs available. Courses in fields like accounting, athletic training, biology, business administration, computer information systems, and the humanities are offered, as well as programs in disciplines like health services administration, nursing, occupational therapy, the liberal arts, and management.

Individual programs within this New York College have also been approved by outside organizations in related fields. For example, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education, and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs, have expressed approval of Dominican College's programs.

For students who wish to reside on campus, this New York College offers three different residence centers -- each of which boasts computer labs, lounges, and meeting rooms, to help students get their work down when they're not in the class room. Residence centers also have a 24-hour front desk, secured front doors, and fire safety equipment.
