Founded in 1867, Drew University was originally created as a national
seminary by the General Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Today the
New Jersey university serves as an institution of higher learning as well as a seminary and ecumenical institution.
As part of its dedication to the
liberal arts, the university has established the College of
liberal arts and the Caspersen School of the Graduate Studies. From fields like American studies, archaeology, chemistry, behavioral science, computer science, and dance, to disciplines like environmental studies,
engineering and applied science, holocaust studies, philosophy, neurosciences, and pan-African studies, there's something for nearly anyone at Drew University. There are even pre-professional programs in
business, law, and medicine, available.
Drew University students participate in such sports as: men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's equestrian, men's and women's fencing, men's and women's swimming, men's baseball, and women's softball. The New Jersey university is also a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III, Eastern College Athletic Conference, Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association, and the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association.
