Since its opening day over 30 years ago, Dyersburg State community college has aimed to improve the quality and accessibility of higher education throughout the region of northwest Tennessee. Dyersburg State Community College offers courses not only on its main campus in Dyersburg, but in educational centers in Gibson and Tipton counties. Programs offered cover such subjects as English, criminal justice, computer science, allied health, pre-veterinary medicine, and psychology. The college even offers some courses via the Internet, CD-ROM instruction, and videotapes.
