Small school, big reputation. Last year six Eastfield community college students were featured in the book "Who's Who Among Students in America's Junior Colleges," three signed scholarship agreements with National Collegiate Athletic Association schools, one was named to the USA All-Academic team, and nine were honored by the National Science Foundation. In conjunction with the National Science Foundation and the University of Texas, exceptional Eastfield math and science students will be invited to participate in an eight-week paid summer research program, worth up to $3,000 as well as college credit. The NSF's $1.4 million grant is part of a larger, state-wide effort to transition science-oriented students from two-year institutions into four-year bachelor's degree programs. Students who take part in the school's Science Talent Expansion Program (STEP) will not only receive access to summer research opportunities, but will also be eligible for specialized scholarships and outreach opportunities.

Behind these great achievements, is the education and vibrant campus life. Eastfield Community College alum approach both four-year universities and the working world armed with a solid two-year education. This campus offers vocational as well as liberal arts degree and diploma programs of study. Eastfield Community College campus is always buzzing with activity. The home to six varsity athletic sports teams and a wide array of student clubs and organizations, Eastfield Community College students turn their campus into a community. Students here also have a voice. The Student Government Association represents the needs of students while the student-run newspaper, Et Cetera, gives students an outlet to voice their opinions.

To help students succeed, Eastfield Community College's Learning Assistance Center offers free tutoring, remedial math, reading, and English courses, study carrels, online academic support, and study skills assessments. The Center also produces a series of writing podcasts that review basic grammar and writing rules. Additional services you'll find on Eastfield Community College's campus include career counseling, home school support services, personal counseling, and educational tools specially designed for low-income, first-generation, or physically disabled students.

  • Eastfield Community College also puts on a number of campus-wide social and cultural events each year. In 2007, the college played host to a piano festival, golf tournament, several art exhibitions, movie nights, and a year-round musical recital series.
