Founded in the mid-1850s as the Elmira Female College, Elmira College is a four-year institution of higher learning that is still known as the "mother of Women's colleges" -- though it has long since gone co-educational. Located on 55 acres in the Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York, the liberal arts college boasts 11 dormitories, 7 classroom buildings, two administrative buildings, a library, health center, campus center, and computer lab facilities.

More than 1,000 students have found the education that they need at Elmira College. In fact, this New York College has over 35 different majors available, with students choosing to pursue either a bachelor of science or a bachelor of arts degree. The New York College also boasts a student-faculty ratio of 12 to one, and an average class size of 16 students. Unlike some other colleges, Elmira College does not allow any of its classes to be taught by teaching assistants.
