Since 1988, when IT originated as Fifi's Pet Palace of Winter Park, the Florida Institute of Animal Arts has been dedicated to training and educating those who wish to pursue careers in the fields of pet grooming and veterinary assistance. The facility, located in Winter Park, Florida, is made up of 10,000 square feet of space, which is comprised of two pet grooming classrooms, two veterinary assistant classrooms, and veterinary libraries as well as a resource library, student lounge and administrative offices. Students learn the skills they need to be successful groomers and veterinary assistance through lectures, demonstrations, hands-on experience, theory and video labs.

Students may choose to enroll in the School of Pet Grooming or the School of Veterinary Assistance. Within the School of Pet Grooming, students practice techniques and receive hands-on learning at their own pet grooming stations. Students enrolled in the School of Pet Grooming at the Florida Institute of Animal Arts are taught at standards derived from the American Kennel Club. Programs within the school include basic pet grooming, Advanced pet grooming and professional pet styling. The School of Veterinary Assistance at the Florida Institute of Animal Arts offers students the chance to advance in the field of veterinary assistance through well-rounded programming that includes classroom instruction and externship experiences. During the externship portion of the program, students are placed within veterinary offices in order to apply what they have learned during classroom instruction under the supervision of trained professionals.
