The Florida Institute of Ultrasound was established in 1976 as the
School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in one room of a local hospital. More than 30 years later, the Florida Institute of Ultrasound has expanded to approximately 5,000 square feet. The Florida Institute of Ultrasound aims to train students for successful careers in the field of diagnostic
medical sonography. The school prepares students by using state-of-the-
art equipment, in-class instruction as well as clinical work.
The curriculum at the Florida Institute of Ultrasound includes ultrasound physics, abdominal ultrasound, OB/GYN ultrasound, vascular ultrasound, and echocardiography. All classroom and scanning instruction is combined with clinical rotations. During clinical rotations students at the Florida Institute of Ultrasound acquire hands-on experience at affiliate
medical facilities to prepare them for their professional careers within the field of diagnostic medical sonography.
