Garden City community college (GCCC) exists to produce positive contributors to the economic and social well-being of society. With an education from Garden City, students will have the essential skills of interpersonal communications including speaking, listening, and writing. Students will have reading skills appropriate for their chosen field of endeavor. Finally, students will have essential math skills.

There are several programs of study at Garden City Community College. These include Allied Health, business and Industry, and Career Learning. Students can also learn a trade such as Ammonia Refrigeration, automotive Technology, and John Deere Ag Technology. For adults seeking better skills or to promote themselves to a better position, or simply, to study a field of interest, there is the Continuing Education and Community Services program. Also helping to serve the community, the Department of Public Safety, Criminal Justice and Fire Science, as well as Emergency Medical Services Technology, offer students the opportunity to learn the skills they need to serve their community in a career of public service.

Garden City Community College has a vibrant, active campus. There are several extracurricular activities available for students to become more social on campus. For athletic students, there are several teams to participate in or just be a spectator. For the more artistic students, there is a theatre guild which performs musicals for the community to enjoy.
