Founded in 1969, Governors State University is a four-year institution of higher learning in Illinois. Boasting over 750 acres of land, the university provides students with an intimate learning experience nestled amongst beautiful landscapes and nature. Serving students year-round with its 15-week trimesters, Governors State University has an enrollment of approximately 6,000.

To better assist in its service to students' academic needs, Governors State University is composed of five different schools: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of business and Public Administration, the College of Health Professions, the College of Education, and the University College.

Through these schools the Illinois university awards bachelor's degrees, master's degree, doctoral degrees, and certificates. Academic programs cover such diverse areas as computer science, business administration, early childhood education, health administration, nursing, social sciences, criminal justice, analytical chemistry, addictions studies, public management, and information security.
