The course at Healthy Soles School covers all aspects of reflexology, a healing and wellness practice that is based on stimulating reflex points on the hands, feet and ears to improve balance, circulation and relaxation in the client. Students who complete the certification course at Healthy Soles School will be ready to own and operate their own reflexology clinic. Healthy Soles School is owned and operated by Susan Watson, the author of "Practical Reflexology: Interpretations and Techniques," and a board-certified reflexologist. She has been teaching others about reflexology since 1996. Watson is also the author of a reflexology textbook and instructor's manual published by McGraw Hill.
A student can graduate from the reflexology certification course at Healthy Soles School in about three months. Classes meet on six weekends. Once students finish their studies, they are prepared to take and pass the
American Reflexology Certification Board exam. To ensure individualized instruction, class sizes are capped at 14 students. The course covers reflexology, anatomy and physiology, clinical sessions, ethics,
business practices and other subjects. Those who wish to enroll at Healthy Soles School of Reflexology need to be at least 18 years old and have graduated from
high school or earned their G.E.D.
In addition to the reflexology certification course, Health Soles School also offers continuing education classes. These classes qualify for continuing education credit through the National Certification Board for
Therapeutic Massage &
bodywork (NCBTMB). Massage therapists who participate in training at Healthy Soles School will learn how to improve the health of their clients by using reflexology to increase energy and flexibility and relieve stress. The two-day, introductory reflexology course concentrates on the relationship between anatomy and physiology and reflexology practice. Healthy Soles students will learn how to use reflexology to relieve a patient's pain, anxiety, nausea or other symptoms. Specific topics covered include the history of reflexology, anatomy of the foot, contraindications, foot pathologies, and anatomy of the skin, digestive, circulatory and lymphatic systems.
