Henderson
community college's roots extend back to the 1960s, when it was founded at the Northwest Extension of the
University of Kentucky. Back then, the school opened its doors to only 256 students, who hailed from the counties of Henderson, Union, and Webster. A few years later, the school would gain the name of Henderson
Community College while becoming a charter member of the University of Kentucky
Community College System. Henderson Community College didn't stop its growth there, either. Today, this Kentucky college boasts an enrollment of over 4,000 students in its continuing education courses, alone.
Henderson Community College's educational opportunities don't stop there either. The school provides a wide range of programs and courses to interested and ambitious students. Whether they're interested in getting their foot in the door of a new career, improving their academic credentials, or transferring into a bachelor's degree program at a traditional four-year college or university, students will find the academic, technical and transfer programs that they need at Henderson Community College.

Students at Henderson Community College participate in such after-school organizations and activities as the Henderson Association of nursing Students, the Academic Team, the Kentucky Education Association - Student Program, the Literary Magazine, and the Student American Dental Hygienists' Association.
Artistically inclined students can join the Henderson Community College Community Chorus and/or Theater.
Henderson Community College's Career Connections Center endeavors to unite prospective employees and employers with the company and personnel that suits them.
At this Kentucky college's Adult Learning Center, mature students can work on improving their reading, math, and writing skills, in order to pass the GED test. Adults who have already received their high school diploma can still take these courses in order to prepare for college and/or their career.
