The Hobart Institute of Welding technology educates and trains individuals in the use and application of welding technologies. HIWT offers Welding Skill Training, technical Training, and Customized Field Training. This Ohio School also conducts certification research and qualifications for the welding industry and disseminates training and educational materials.

HIWT uses four strategies to teach welding: lecture/discussion to introduce key concepts, demonstration to model proper techniques, supervised individual practice with one-on-one coaching, and systematic practical and written testing to measure students' understanding to key concepts and skills. Welding training is skills-based, and is continually updated for best industry practices.

The Hobart Institute of Welding Technology offers quality training at a minimum cost to help individuals develop marketing welding skills. Hobart continuously strives to develop new and improved welding training methods and materials and to make the industry more competitive.

The Hobart Institute of Welding Technology has a 105,000 square-foot facility with 150 welding booths, 16 classrooms, and four labs. HIWT uses certification-qualify base material prepared by full-time support staff; no scrap metal is used.

The Hobart Institute of Welding Technology is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology. HIWT is also accredited by the American Welding Society to perform qualification of welders and welding inspectors.
