Founded in 1990, Hodges University was originally known as International University before receiving a gift from Naples residents Earl and Thelma Hodges in 2007. The private, coeducational, commuter-only university is geared toward
adult learners and aims to provide its students with a global perspective. Through its Diversity Initiative, Hodges University offers diversity programs to students, faculty, and the community. A Multicultural Committee also serves to promote awareness of the student body's various cultural backgrounds.
Hodges offers a variety of associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees in fields ranging from accounting to interdisciplinary studies. Prospective law students can pursue a two-year paralegal degree or a B.A. in Legal Studies. Many undergraduate degree programs are available through
distance learning, including Health Administration,
criminal justice, and Management. Several graduate degrees can be earned
online as well, including an M.B.A. in
business Administration and an M.I.S. in Information Systems Management.
The career-focused education is supplemented by the Office of Career Development, which offers Myers-Briggs career assessment, mock interviews, and job placement assistance. Peer tutoring is also available to students, with schedules that accommodate adult learners.
