Howard College, a public, two-year college in West Texas, prepares students to continue their education at senior institutions or to enter specific occupational areas at the end of a one- or two-year period of specialized training. Howard College offers Associate Degrees, developmental education, certificates, and skills certificates.

The Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) programs prepare students for transfer to baccalaureate degree-granting institutions, while the Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) prepares students to enter the workforce. Students who do not declare an academic arts or sciences major are declared as a vocational/technical education major.

Howard County Junior College District offers a wide range of courses in academic transfer, workforce education, risk management, and workforce training instruction.
Students can participate in a wide variety of academic, social and interest groups on campus.

Howard College services 13 counties and hosts 29 independent school districts in West Texas with four campuses: Big Spring, Lamesa, San Angelo, and Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf (SWCID) in Big Spring.

The Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf serves as the fourth campus and is designed for both self-contained and inclusive instruction to meet the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students.

Howard College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
