Founded by the United Methodist Church in 1854, Huntingdon College has a mission to create a community of learners joined together in a spirit of faith, wisdom and service. This Alabama college attracts students not only from within the state of Alabama, but all throughout the Southeast, including the Florida panhandle.

Huntingdon College's academic departments include business and applied science, humanities, math and natural sciences, and social sciences. Majors include accounting, cell biology, communication, elementary education, exercise science, music, psychology, religion, and sports management. The School of business and Professional Studies offers flexible programs for working adults. Students enroll in five-week sessions that hold classes one night per week. Those who wish to complete their degree programs in a shorter time period can attend class two nights per week for accelerated study.
