Although not officially established at the Imperial Valley College until 1962, this two-year institution's history extends back to 1922, when Central Junior College first opened its doors. It was thanks to this community college's growth and influence that the Imperial Valley Junior College District, and in turn the Imperial Valley College, was created.

Today Imperial Valley College is devoted to providing community members with the education and career training they need. To do so, this California Community College offers a number of different programs and courses. In fact, at Imperial Valley College students will be able to access approximately 56 fields of study and 900 different classes.

While career-ready students will find the professional training they need with certificate programs, students who aspire to further education will be able to transfer to traditional four-year college and universities thanks to the associate degree programs. Basic skills courses, as well as community education course, are also offered by this California Community College.
