Indiana University/Purdue University at Indianapolis is a public, coeducational university, created as a partnership between Indiana University and Purdue University in 1969. With more than 29,000 students enrolled, IUPUI is the second largest campus in the Indiana University system.

Its size is reflected in its wide array of academic programs, with more than 225 programs offered through IUPUI's 22 schools. Indiana University/Purdue University at Indianapolis is renowned for its engineering and health programs, and students can pursue a doctorate from the IU School of Medicine, Purdue School of Science, Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, and IU School of Dentistry. Doctoral programs are also available in law, social work, and philosophy.
