The Institute for the Psychological Sciences is a Catholic
Graduate School located in the
Washington, D.C., metro area. Founded in 1997 by a team of mental health professionals and academics, and accredited in 2005 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, IPS provides a graduate-level
education that focuses on the philosophical roots of psychology.
The academic department offers a master's
degree in General Psychology or Clinical Psychology, along with a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. All three programs
AIM to strengthen theoretical perspectives, improve research methods, and explore the impact of
Christian faith on psychology. Students can also earn graduate credits through a summer program at the University of Oxford in England.
The Institute for the Psychological Sciences campus is located in the Crystal Plaza One building and includes classrooms, student services, a chapel, the IPS Psychology Clinic, and the Mary S. Thelen Library. Campus life includes half-day retreats and traditional events like Game Night and afternoon tea. Career placement services and counseling services are also available.

Before completing their Psy.D., doctoral candidates at the Institute for the Psychological Sciences must complete a one-year, full-time internship.
Students who do not have a background in psychology can still pursue the M.S. in Clinical Psychology, provided they attend a required seminar during their first year at IPS.
