The Institute of medical Ultrasound (IMU) in Atlanta, Georgia is a distance education institution. IMU offers a diploma in medical ultrasound technology.

Students attend theory classes in Atlanta and from anywhere throughout the United States via live, online classes with instructor and classmates. Classes are small and interactive and use two-way communication via microphone and speakers. Ultrasound images display on the students' monitors.

Scanning arts courses at the Institute of Medical Ultrasound are offered in weekly hand-on classes for Atlanta-based students. Distance students receive training via concentrated hands-on scanning seminars following the IMU study guide and scanning manual.
