Founded approximately 30 years ago by Saul Goodman, the International School of Shiatsu (I.S.S.) is an institution aimed at
teaching students the ins and outs of shiatsu and related holistic disciplines.
The 640-hour program offered by the International School of Shiatsu, instructs students in a combination of the following forms and practices: shiatsu, zen shiatsu, masunaga meridians, and macrobiotics. Goodman's own
research into the bodyworks of shin tai, life force recovery, and light body activation, are also integrated into the shiatsu program.
Under the influence of the International School of Shiatsu's current owner, Shirley Scranta, courses in brain nutrition, stress management, and wellness have also been added to the curriculum.
Best yet, the International School of Shiatsu students get to experience hands-on learning with the school's Shiatsu Clinic. Open to members of the public from November to June, this bodyworks school's clinic allows graduating second-year students to practice their newfound skills on real patients. Students then have their work at the clinic evaluated by their instructors and peers within class.

This bodyworks school promotes intimate learning with class sizes capped at 24 students each.
