Iowa Wesleyan College
Founded in 1842, is the oldest four-year, church-affiliated
liberal arts college west of the Mississippi River. The academic program at this
Iowa college combines career preparation with an emphasis on personal growth.
Students can pursue a bachelor's degree in more than 30 programs that span the fields of
business, education, fine arts, human studies, literature,
nursing, science, and mathematics. In the 1960s, Iowa
Wesleyan College introduced a servie learning component called Service Learning and Civic Engagement. Students are also encouraged to complete Field Experience through internships, nursing clinicals, and student teaching.
Iowa Wesleyan College is rich in history. One of the most famous IWC alumni is Belle Babb Mansfield, the first women to earn a license to practice law in the United States. In addition, the P.E.O. Sisterhood -- a philanthropic educational organization with more than 300,000 members nationwide that promotes opportunities for women in higher education -- was founded on the Iowa Wesleyan Campus.
Iowa Wesleyan College is an NAIA Division II school with seven men's teams and seven women's teams. Students can also participate in various clubs, campus ministries, or the IWC radio station.
