J. Sargeant Reynolds
community college, founded in 1972, is Virginia's newest
Community College. Named in honor of the late Lieutenant Governor of the State, who championed legislation to create state-supported community colleges, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College serves the capitol region in and around the city of Richmond. J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College students take courses at three major campuses, at five off-campus sites, and "virtually" through
distance learning. The number one goal of JSRCC is providing its students with the skills they need to succeed in a competitive workplace. Students at Reynolds can be confident that they will be part of a dynamic learning environment -- one that will change them as individuals and enrich the community as a whole.
The mission of J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College is to provide access to the education students need to achieve their personal and professional goals. Whether it is to prepare for employment and career advancement, to transfer to four-year colleges and universities, to enrich personal development, or to enhance professional skills, JSRCC provides programs to meet the goals of all students. J. Sargeant Reynolds Community offers
Associate Degrees that transfer to four-year universities and colleges in Virginia and elsewhere. J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College also has degree, certificate, and career studies programs that prepare students to enter the workforce. Work development courses as well as personal enrichment courses are available at Reynolds for those students who don't wish to complete an entire program but rather enhance their professional or personal lives through individual courses.
