Jean Madeline Aveda Institute began through a partnership of Jean Kurland and Madeline Brown, bringing beauty and style to the Philadelphia area with their top notch salons. Today, the institute has locations throughout Philadelphia and is nationally and internationally renowned.

Jean Madeline Aveda Institute's available programs are Cosmetology, esthiology, manicuring, and a teacher's program. The cosmetology (operator's program) requires 1,250 hours for 42 weeks, if attended full-time, and 63 weeks, if attended part-time. Students in this program are given a comprehensive education, which explores techniques and the latest styles in hair cutting, color and texture services, skin care, Nail Technology, and makeup. cosmetology students gain a foundation of theoretical knowledge and hands on practice to practice cosmetology and successfully build their business.

The esthiology (skin care) program is a full-time 300-hour 10-week program. In this program, students study techniques to purify, balance and renew skin. With knowledge and hands on learning in business building and retail knowledge, esthiology students have a foundation for careers as skin care specialists.

The manicuring program is full-time 200-hour seven-week program. Students learn the science of nail technology through theory and practical skills to provide salon nails service as well as business development and retail knowledge. The teacher's program is a full-time 500-hour 12-week program that can also be taken part-time for 25-weeks. This program prepares students for licensure as cosmetology instructors and other advanced career opportunities.
