Kilgore College is a two-year Texas community college that prepares students for transfer to four-year universities or a career in a field that they have studied and honed their skills. The Kilgore College Web site has been ranked in the Top 10 national Community College sites, by the National Research Center for College and University Admissions. This Texas community college provides one of the best kind of information to its potential students. Kilgore College was the only Texas community college to make the Top 10 list, and one of only five Texas colleges or universities to be nationally ranked in the top 10 in their division.

Kilgore College opened in the fall of 1935 with 11 faculty members and 229 students. Kilgore College has made many changes since 1935, but it has not changed its goal to meet the needs of the people of East Texas. In the beginning, the curriculum was designed to serve university-bound students; but today, the college offers training in Cosmetology, nursing, law enforcement, manufacturing technology, and numerous other vocational fields.

The Continuing Education Program consists of business and industrial courses as well as self-improvement courses. Kilgore College offers courses in all occupations for which there is a known need. These non-credit, short courses are designed for improving job efficiency, increasing job skills or retraining for new careers. Self-improvement courses are designed for developing personal traits, improving one's self-image, and enriching one's leisure time.
