Founded in 1900, Lees-McRae College is a private, coeducational, Presbyterian-affiliated college in the Southern Appalachian region of
North Carolina. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, LMC provides a
liberal arts education with an emphasis on leadership and values.
The academic department at Lees-McRae College offers more than 25 academic programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of
business Science, or a Bachelor of Science in
nursing. Motivated students can apply for the Honors Programs, which supplements the curriculum with lectures, service projects, field trips, and designated student housing. Extended Campus programs are available to continuing students in the fields of
criminal justice, elementary education, and
nursing.
Lees-McRae College is an NCAA Division II school with nine men's teams and nine women's teams, along with men's and women's cycling teams competing in Division I. Students can also participate in a number of student organizations, including intramural sports, cheerleading, peer education, and special interest clubs.
