LeTourneau University is a private, interdenominational
Christian university offering programs in
engineering, technology, and the arts. Founded as LeTourneau Technical Institute in 1946, this
Texas School achieved university status in 1989 and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Engineering and aeronautical science are the flagship programs at LeTourneau University, which is one of only two universities in the nation to offer a concentration in welding within an accredited engineering program. Students can also choose from more than 60 academic majors in technology,
business,
liberal arts, natural sciences, mathematics, education, and kinesiology. In addition, LeTourneau University offers undergraduate and graduate
business degrees and teacher certification at five satellite centers in Texas.
LeTourneau University offers an active student life; more than 80 percent of students participate in intramural sports, and students volunteer more than 55,000 hours annually to community service. More than 40 student organizations are offered, including six men's teams and seven women's teams at the NCAA Division III varsity level.
