technical College has been providing area students with skills to enter the modern workforce since. The college began granting
Associate Degrees in 1991 and in 1995, the name was changed to Linn State Technical College to better reflect the services the school was providing and would continue to provide in the 21st century.
Linn State Technical College is the state's only public supported two-year college, which provides a statewide mission to provide a technical education. The school has over 25 areas of study in which students can earn an associate degree. More than 870 students enroll per year at Linn State Technical College to study in one of the various degree programs, including: communications; mathematics; physical therapy assistant; science; social service; social science; commercial turf and grounds management; construction and civil technology; design drafting technology; heavy equipment operations; computer programming; networking systems technology; automation and robotics technology; electric power generation technology; electrical distribution systems; electronics
engineering technology; heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology; medium/heavy truck technology; and power sports technology.
Linn State Technical College is the only two-year degree accredited school to offer the following programs: Caterpillar diesel service technician heavy equipment technology; electrical distribution systems; heavy equipment operation; laser/photonics technology; and nuclear technology. The campus is located on 249 acres in Linn. Eight academic buildings, on-campus housing, learning labs and an on-site public airport are part of the vibrant campus.
Prospective students wishing to enroll at Linn State Technical College must have a
high school diploma or GED for all of the associate degree programs and most of the certificate and diploma programs; and should either have SAT or ACT scores, or take the Compass exam. Students who have attended other colleges or universities must also provide a transcript from those schools.
