Founded in 1891 as the Nashville Bible School, Lipscomb University is a private, coeducational university affiliated with the churches of Christ. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the academic program at this Tennessee University integrates Christian faith with liberal arts education and career preparation.

Lipscomb University offers more than 130 programs in more than 45 majors leading to a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of business Administration, Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Bachelor of Science, or Bachelor of Science in nursing degree. At the graduate level, students can pursue their master's degree or post-baccalaureate certificates in a variety of programs in Bible, business, conflict management, counseling, and education.

Lipscomb University is an NCAA Division I school, with seven men's teams and eight women's teams competing at the varsity level. In addition, students can compete in a variety of intramural sports leagues including co-ed softball, ultimate Frisbee, and soccer. Lipscomb University also offers more than 70 student organizations including student government, honor societies, music groups, and service organizations.
