Livingstone College is a private, historically black institution connected to the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. Founded in 1879 for the purpose of training ministers, this North Carolina college is now a four-year institution that combines academic and spiritual development. Livingstone College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The academic department at Livingstone College is comprised of four divisions: the Division of business, Division of Education and Social Work, Division of liberal arts, and Division of Mathematics and Sciences. Students can earn degrees in 20 academic programs in liberal arts, business, education, social work, mathematics, and science.

Livingstone College is an NCAA Division II school with four men's teams and eight women's teams. Students can also participate in a wide variety of student organizations on campus including Greek life, honor societies, academic clubs, and campus ministry.
